Prof. Herman Pi’ikea Clark

PiikeaProfessor Herman Pi’ikea Clark (Hawai’i) is an INDIGO co-chair and the Mark Laws Chair of Technology, Innovation and Arts and director of the Tokorau Institute for Indigenous Innovation at Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi, one of three indigenous universities in New Zealand. He teaches Indigenous/Pacific cultural perspectives in Design and contributes to the development of indigenous design theory and methodologies for research and professional practice. A practicing designer and artist, Professor Clark’s artwork and design commissions are housed in both private and public collections in Hawaii, North America and the Pacific. Together with his wife, he established ‘Pili,’ a Design practice that focuses on Indigenous Pacific culture and identity.
